Summer Recap

It’s the last week of summer vacation this week at Chez Renee! It’s hard to believe, how the time has gone by so quickly even though it didn’t seem that way at the time. This means we’ll be trying to cram in as much stuff as we can in a mere seven days. Everything from swim lessons to a book launch to a visit to the beach, and probably more!

I would love to say I accomplished my biggest goal for the summer: completing the first draft of Into the Riot, book three of the Riot MC series, but I cannot say that. The last newsletter I sent out mentioned the song “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, and I think I may have taken it to heart a little too much. We definitely did our fair share of sitting back and unwinding. However, I’m within the last 10,000 to 20,000 words on Into the Riot…so there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and I don’t think it’s a train. With any luck, it will come together quickly. Then I’ll need to re-read it, edit it and send it off to my editor by September. It’s Razor’s story, if you didn’t know that already, and it’s been a struggle because he is a character that is larger than life to me, and I’m pressuring myself to make sure his story is up to snuff. Then again, I also love him so much, I’m likely procrastinating in an effort to spend more time with him mentally. Strong alphas will do that you, I’ve found.

My child has been out of school for over two months now, and we’ve yet to go to the beach. Needless to say, this is a high priority activity on our agenda for this week. The bulk of the summer has been spent with swim lessons, which were a huge success and critical for kiddos in Florida.

This week, I’m excited about Inciting a Riot releasing. The pre-orders have been healthy, and I even got a mention in a tweet from USA Today’s Happily Ever After blog. I was more than a little bit excited about that. I’m eager and a little bit anxious to hear what readers have to say about Vamp and Frankie’s story.

My mother came to visit this weekend, and she came with me to First Coast Romance Writers monthly meeting. It was a good meeting with a great speaker, and I’m already using some of the tips for exposing my work to new readers.

Here’s to a busy week, and I hope all of you are having a fabulous summer!
