Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
Combine oats, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
Combine egg, milk, oil, and almond extract in a medium bowl.
Make a well in the flour mixture, add liquid ingredients, and stir until just moist. Fold in chopped cherries. Spoon mixture into muffin tin lined with paper baking cups.
Bake 18-20 minutes.
